No, That's Too Hard. How 'Bout a Nice Selfie Instead?

The Commish has told Justin it's time to get off the pot. No, it's not about weed. It's about climate change, adaptation and mitigation.

Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Julie Gelfand, says Mr. Trudeau's government must stop blathering about climate change and actually do something about it. Gelfand says it's time the government put into effect its plan to curb greenhouse gas emissions and do something to mitigate the climate change impacts, the early-onset impacts, such as damage from wildfires, floods and extreme weather events.

"It's time for change. The federal government needs to start doing the hard work to turn this latest broad framework into tangible and measurable actions," Gelfand concludes in her report.

The government released the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change in December 2016, which was endorsed by all provinces and territories except Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

But instead of presenting a detailed action plan to reach the 2020 target for reducing emissions, Gelfand said the government changed its focus to a new 2030 target.

The government has also failed to adopt regulations to reduce greenhouse gases that could help limit the risks of pollution, natural disasters, forest fires and floods, the audit finds.

I'm sorry Commissioner Julie but Justin is what Barack Obama defines as a "bullshitter." He lays it on thick to sucker Canadians into voting for him and he throws on an extra layer or two as his grand promises turn out to be just a con.  Wait, did I say "con"? Why, yes, I did. Trudeau is acting just like the Con, Harper, who preceded him. He says he gets it, promises to fix it and then ignores the whole thing.

Oh well he can still bring a twinkle to Angela Merkel's eye and even Trump gazes on him like he'd give him a go too. I suppose that counts for something but, for the life of me, I can't figure out what.

I heard David Suzuki on the radio the other day. He was saying that he begged JT to take serious action on climate change as a father for the sake of his own children's lives. If a father won't take action on that basis, it's hard to see when he would.

Lest people pile on claiming JT's still better than Scheer and Singh, I'd simply note that those two aren't in power with a majority. I really don't care what they would or wouldn't do because we don't have until 2020 to take action.

It's not hard to wonder why a prime minister with young children would be so reticent to at least try to protect their future and yet he's doing squat - for the Canadian environment, that is. He's doing plenty for Big Fossil.

He's great at taking selfies in British Columbia, photo-bombing the Stanley Park seawall or Long Beach outside Tofino. He likes to pose in a kayak or with a surfboard under his arm.

He sweet talked coastal British Columbians into handing him 17 seats in 2015. I hope his hypocrisy and betrayal costs him every one of those seats in 2019.
