Michelle Bachmann Now Says Slavery is "Horrible"

Gaping maw Repugnican Michelle Bachmann is racing to distance herself from a statement that said American blacks were better off back when they were in slavery.  Last week Bachmann was the first candidate to sign a religious group's pledge that included this line:

...sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA?s first African-American President.

Ah, for the good old days, eh Michelle?  Back then a black baby was safe in two-parent slavery at least until mom or, more likely, dad was sold off to some other plantation.

Now the Iowa-based, social conservative group, Family Leader, says Michelle can just ignore that whole slavery part of her pledge.   They might even just remove it altogether, let slavery bygones be bygones and all.

Maybe someday politicians will start actually reading things before they sign or vote for them.

I'd settle if they'd just read legislation before they vote.

It would also be nice if they actually thought about what they read.
